In conjunction with Malaysia being crowned the champions in the AFF Suzuki Cup championship, I would like to dedicate this post to the 'tigers in blue'. They have made the whole nation proud and all Malaysians were cheering for them.
Being a fan of sports, I am always very emotional when watching sports matches. It makes me sit at the edge of the chair and cheer for the individual/ team I am supporting. Never before have I cheered for the Malaysian team so intensely since I am not in the generation that cheered for the likes of Soh Chin Aun, R. Arumugam a.k.a Spiderman etc.
Under the guidance of coach K. Rajagopal, this young Malaysian team, with an average age of 23 years old, played brilliantly, especially the heroic goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat who showed superb performance guarding the goal and Mohd Safee Sali who is at top form thereby being the top scorer of the tournament.
Ole. Ole, ole, ole. Ole. Ole. Congratulations Malaysia. Malaysia Boleh!

'Tang Yuan'
Last Wednesday was Winter Solstice Festival also known as Dongzhi festival. Traditionally, families get together and have a reunion meal. Also, one of the important things to do is the making and eating of 'tang yuan'. 'Tang yuan', which symbolise reunion, are balls of glutinous rice usually served with syrup.
I love eating 'tang yuan'. Maybe because I get to make them with mum. Or maybe this Dongzhi festival is just once a year and we tend to appreciate things more when they are rarely available. Or I just like the meaning behind this festival. This festival is even considered more important than Chinese New Year and we are said to be a year older after this festival instead of after Chinese New Year.

December =)
Whoah. It has been a month since I last blogged. It has been a week into my semester break. The longest break that I will get in this A-Level course. One thing I missed a lot for the past five months is the television. Hey idiot box, how i miss you so much!
Also, I had a great weekend at Port Dickson with my fellow classmates, July 2010 S1 right after the semester exam. I still remember my Biology lecturer said that it is the first time that a class actually goes on a trip just after the first semester. Usually, students only go after the AS level or A2 level. Haha. =) It is indeed an awesome time I am having in college. Cheers.
So, on the trip, I was exposed to my first ever Hindi movie, '3 Idiots'. I definitely recommend this movie to all, especially students because students can connect to it easily with its plot based a lot on college life and friendship. Another great movie that left tears running down my cheeks.
As for TVB dramas, I have watched 'Born Rich' and 'No Regrets'. The latter is probably the best TVB drama I have watched so far where it received awards for Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor at the TV Awards Presentation 2010. It is the sequel to the series 'Rosy Business' which is also another one that is worth watching. 'No Regrets' is a star-studded drama with actors like Wayne Lai, Sheren Tang, Raymond Wong, Fala Chen, Evergreen Mak and Pierre Ngo. This series depicts an epic romance between a righteous police captain and a woman drug dealer. Values that are highlighted are sacrifice for loved ones and for country, respect and brotherhood.

A 100%?
Before a major examination, we work really hard.
During the exam, we do our best. We tend to say " I have given a 100% effort."
After the exam, when we get our results, we tend to say " If only I had done this. " "If only I had done that." " There is so much room for improvement, I could have done better."
This makes me wonder again. When is it that we actually give a 100%? Does the judgement of whether we have done our best only comes after we looked at the results? If it's bad, we say "Oh, I am sure I can do better than this." Even if it's excellent, we will still say, " I can do better than that." because nobody is perfect. Moreover, getting the perfect score does not mean that you have given a 100%.
So people, food for thought of the day! =)

Short Update
Have been busy for quite a while with tests. Plus, semester exam's coming, hence, fewer blog posts. Most of the time spent is studying, of course. When my brain just couldn't absorb any more information, I like to look out the window. A good, beautiful view of the Sunway Lagoon, the college, the hotel, Sunway Pyramid, the hostel swimming pool downstairs.
Let's wish all the Hindus Happy Deepavali and to the rest, Happy Holiday! Looking forward to going back to Ipoh -meeting friends, eating delicious food, watching the idiot box. =) Home sweet home!

MOJO
Forte. or as Dr House calls it 'mojo'. In his case, it is his ability to diagnose his patients illnesses'. Everyone has their strongest point or specialty. Some are lucky enough to discover them at an early age. Sometimes I wonder how people discover theirs. Is it by trial and error like how parents send their children to all the swimming classes, music lessons and ballet classes? Or by chance? ( You mean you just stumble upon it? But how?)
Some are just talented dancers and musicians than others. We like to say they are born to do it. Sometimes, it is like a phenotype expressed from the person's genes. For example, like father, like son or like mother, like daughter. It just runs in the family.
And then, there is another issue; do you do things that you are good at and then like doing it or your passion doing it makes you eventually good at it? In short, forte followed by liking or passion followed by good at doing it.
Sometimes too, you feel like you are losing your 'mojo'. Then, you start thinking if your 'mojo' is really your 'mojo'. Let me tell you. If you have found your 'mojo', it is not going to go anywhere. It is where you left it.
On another note, I have watched 'The Other Guys' and 'Precious'. 'The Other Guys' is a comedy movie about two detectives trying to be the next police heroes in town. It has some unpredictable jokes but in my opinion, not worth the money. 'Precious' on the other hand is a great movie. I first knew about it when I watched the Oscar Awards where it bagged the Best Supporting Actress award.

COME ON!
"The world is coming to an end."
"How to win when I am trailing by so many points?"
"What a unlucky day!"
Often times, we feel down and out. All around us is just darkness. There is no hope, no love, no whatever-it-is-that-you-hold-on-to-in-life.
OH, COME ON! What is this that you are thinking about? Such pessimism. Such negative thinking. Better throw them away in the dustbin. So what if you are down and out? There are so many other people out there who are more unfortunate, who are in worse conditions. Even if there is no miracle (actually there is, look at the Chilean miners, what an inspiration), you mean you are incapable of standing back up on your feet and working hard to achieve success? If other people can do it, why can't you? As the saying goes, when one door closes, another opens. This is life. There is a reason for everything to happen. Just shed a few tears and start over =)
I find the phrase 'COME ON!' rather motivational and helpful. Many athletes shouts the phrase out to drive themselves on. They have done it for uncountable times; this just prove that it is effective. They believe in themselves. They know that the matches are very important and strive for victory. Athletes have such high mentality that I really salute them.
So, fret not people. Work hard and good times will be yours. ;) COME ON!

Ironing...
The other day, I had to iron my pair of formal attire without suitable 'tools', i.e. no ironing board, no water spray. And the iron was the smallest iron I have ever encountered in my life. So, I had to improvise. Did the ironing on the bed and scooping water out of container and sprinkle on the shirt. The material of the shirt did not help much either. I took up to an hour just to iron two pieces of clothes! Can you believe it?!

Lunch at Victoria Station
I always love hanging out with my family when my parents came down to KL. It is time well spent. So, about a fortnight ago ( if I am not mistaken), we had our lunch at Victoria Station, Taipan. Since it was quite late in the afternoon, we were the only customers there. Nevertheless, we had a great meal. =)
I like the interior design of it. Really gives you a feel that you are at an old railway station, like those depicted in old movies. We sat at one of the tables in a coach.
