'Tang Yuan'

Last Wednesday was Winter Solstice Festival also known as Dongzhi festival. Traditionally, families get together and have a reunion meal. Also, one of the important things to do is the making and eating of 'tang yuan'. 'Tang yuan', which symbolise reunion, are balls of glutinous rice usually served with syrup.

I love eating 'tang yuan'. Maybe because I get to make them with mum. Or maybe this Dongzhi festival is just once a year and we tend to appreciate things more when they are rarely available. Or I just like the meaning behind this festival. This festival is even considered more important than Chinese New Year and we are said to be a year older after this festival instead of after Chinese New Year.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas! =)
